Extremely important Action Alert to WVWF Members
SB 237 has passed the WV Senate. Now, the House of Delegates must hear from every sportsman in order to STOP this ridiculous bill which will remove regulation of deer farms from the WV Division of Natural Resources. The Department of Agriculture would inherit this responsibility.
The DNR has properly trained staff and the resources to regulate deer farms. This would be new to Ag as they do not manage wildlife, or have a staff of wildlife biologists that understand and specialize in deer. Furthermore, we are very concerned that Ag will allow transporting live deer. Although our deer farms currently do not have Chronic Wasting Disease (because of proper DNR regulation), an influx of diseased animals to deer farms will very likely spread this unwanted disease throughout the state and eventually decimate the wild deer herd throughout the state.

All,
We have reached a critical time for the future of deer hunting in West Virginia. It is absolutely imperative that you contact your WV State Senator's office TODAY and let them know that you OPPOSE the transfer of regulation of Captive Cervid facilities (deer farms) from the WVDNR to the WV Department of Agriculture.
Walt Helmick and WV Agriculture would like to see a few wealthy individuals killing pen-raised deer inside of a tiny enclosure, and they do not respect the grass roots hunter! You MUST contact your Senators today and be absolutely clear that you do not support SB 237!!!
Your deer hunting future depends on your action!!!!!!
It is up to you, and the future is in your hands right now. For God's sake, please make the call!!!
